Privacy Policy Statement

The following information explains what kind of information is gathered on the New York New Media Association (NYNMA) site and how that information is used. We can be reached via email at [email protected], postal mail at 55 Broad St, New York, NY 10004, USA, or you can contact us by telephone at 212.785.7898 ext 230.

Please bring to our attention any instance where you feel these policies have been violated.

What's collected and what's not?
You can visit the public parts of our site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information. While IP addresses (the Internet address of a computer) are logged to track a user's session, the user remains anonymous. Tracking IP addresses gives us an idea of which parts of our site users are visiting and how long they spend there. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means that a user's session is tracked, but the user is anonymous. The user's browser also lets us know the type of computer and operating system being used.

How is log-in and password information used?
Some pages on the NYNMA website are for members only. You will be asked for your log-in and password. We do not use, sell, rent, or loan our log-in lists to outside firms without your permission.

What levels of security does NYNMA have?
Certain web site areas are only available to our members and are password protected. This website takes every precaution to protect our users’ information. When users submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.

When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and is protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'.

While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line. All of our users’ information, not just the sensitive information mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept in a secure environment.

If you have any questions about the security at our website, you can send an email to [email protected].

Email notifications
We send all new members a welcoming email to verify password and username. Members will receive the NYNMA newsletter as well as notification of special events we think you might be interested in. Non-members can sign up here. Users who no longer wish to receive our newsletter or promotional materials from our partners may opt-out of receiving these communications by emailing us at [email protected] or by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every NYNMA email.
